For a while now, I've been hearing rave reviews about Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings. Convinced that dumplings are dumplings and while some are better than others they are still dumplings, I met up with two of my food influencer girlfriends to go try them out. Little did I know, amongst the three of us, I was the only one who hadn't been there before. They were “fans”! One dumpling in, and I was, too.

Growing up a Jew in Manhattan, it's one hundred percent fair to assume that I've eaten my fair share of Chinese food. Whether my order was the go-to Chicken With Broccoli or the Moo Shu Chicken, there was always a large order of Vegetable Dumplings added in there for me. From some places they were so green that you couldn't see through them and other times clear where you could see all of the shredded veggies inside. They were greasy and messy and all that I knew dumplings to be, at the time. As a food writer, my eyes have been opened to a whole new level of dumplings.

This, friends, this is why I am writing to you about Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings. With sustainably sourced vegetables and mama’s timeless secrecy recipe, sisters Hannah and Marian Cheng opens up this bright and sunny dumpling shop to share these must eat dumplings with anyone to venture through their doors. With white washed walls and flowers on the table the space is quaint and beautiful. What's more is that the dumplings are amazing! They don't have that greasy guilty pleasure vibe that the ones I grew up eating did, no, you can truly taste the freshness in these.Dont get me wrong, I'm not calling them the next health food spot because, yeah, they are still dumplings, but these are elevated cleaner versions that you absolutely must try! Plus, right now they are collaborating with Black Tap to make a special dumpling that they are calling The Greg Norman! God, I love a fun collab!
