Ice & Vice
Ice & Vice had quickly skyrocketed to my favorite ice cream shop in the city. So much so, that I’ve become great friends with the owners and developed my own “Coffee & Champagne” ice cream flavor for their menu–ahem, you gotta go try it! It’s continually selling out, so you know it’s good!
Visiting this area over and over again, it’s hard not to notice how desolate it is. Being that I’m sending you all of the way there, I thought, why not give you the option of exploring a few more tiny delicious shops? May your mini food tour begin!

Now there are some true icons down there. If you’re a doughnut person you probably already love the exciting flavors at Doughnut Plant. If you’re not a huge doughnut person, Doughnut plant will convert you! Can’t wait to hear what your favorite one is!

A timeless shop that I went to when I was seven years old because my dad used to go when he was six years old with some change to pick up bialys to take back to his dad’s brick and mortar clothing store a couple blocks away.
After exploring their kitchen and discovering that they are still using the same recipe that they opened eighty years ago, there’s no ifs ands or buts, Kossar’s is a must when you’re on the LES!

The Pickle Guys
Any time I set foot into a pickling shop, I feel like I’ve travelled back to a simpler time. It’s always a narrow space filled with large barrels of delicious pickling fruit and vegetables.
I’m obsessed with The Pickle Guys! Aside from being super nice, everything is delicious! Of course you have to get the pickles–I went half sour–but don’t you dare leave the shop without their pickled pineapple! Funnily enough, I got that great tip from a super cool lady who works at Kossar’s. She did not steer me wrong!

Any time I’m in the area, I make a quick stop at Cafe Grumpy. There’s something about just how quaint this location is that makes it so charming. Perhaps, it’s the no fuss mentality or the in and out nature of it since it epitomizes the phrase “hole-in-the-wall”. Sure, it could be all of those things but, I’m going with it being the killer coffee!
