DARK CHOCOLATE HUMMUS BROWNIES

HUMMUS BROWNIES. Yes, those two words go together now.

I had heard of avocado brownies but never hummus brownies. Now, I LOVE chickpeas so once the idea came to mind, it really wouldn’t leave my brain—I had to make them. When I saw a dark chocolate dessert hummus in the store, it felt kismet. I quickly got to baking! Out of my oven came these super rich and decadent ooey-gooey wow-worthy dark chocolate brownies. I thought they’d be weird in some way, but honestly, they weren’t. They’re just extra moist and super yummy! You have to try them!

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk your eggs.

  4. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Pour your dry flour mixture over your wet hummus mixture and whisk it all together.
  6. Mix in 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Line your baking dish with parchment paper and liberally grease it with butter.
  8. Spread your brownie batter evenly throughout the baking dish.
  9. Sprinkle your remaining 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips over the top of your batter and use the palm of your hand to gently press them in.
  10. Sprinkle finishing salt evenly over the top of your brownies.
  11. Bake for 28 minutes. To test if they are ready, dip a toothpick into the middle of your brownies. When you pull it out, you shouldn’t see any wet batter on it.
  12. Let your brownies cool to room temperature.
  13. Transfer your now one large brownie to your cutting board.
  14. Use your chef’s knife to cut a thin piece off of each side of your one large brownie. Then cut your brownie in a 3x3 grid to make 9 brownies.
  15. Eat and thoroughly enjoy!
