LAVENDER MAPLE RICE KRISPIES TREATS

RICE KRISPIES TREATS for adults.

… I say that loosely as my five-year-old son is currently at school being “extra good” so that he can earn one at the end of the day. After spending some time out in the NorthFork of Long Island a few weeks ago, the one thing that really dug it’s way into my life was incorporating lavender into my lattes. One thing led to another and I started thinking about something I could pair with that latte. Enter extra Rice Krispies that didn’t fit into my glass cereal container, combined with marshmallows I thought my kids would like more of but kinda just sat there, and the culinary lavender sitting next to my espresso machine—kismet—mix them all together and you get this heavenly Rice Krispie Treat.

TO MAKE YOUR RICE KRISPIE TREATS
  1. Pour your Rice Krispies in your mixing bowl. Set aside.
  2. Line your casserole dish with parchment paper. Spray that paper and any exposed walls with baking spray. Set aside.
  3. Over high heat, melt your butter in your saucepan. Use your spatula to move it around consistently until it browns. Lower your heat to low and add your marshmallows. Keep stirring until there are only a few lumps left.
  4. Add maple syrup and lavender. Mix until completely smooth and your maple syrup and lavender are evenly integrated in your marshmallow.
  5. Pour your marshmallow mixture over your Rice Krispies and use your rubber spatula to fold it all together until you have an even mixture.
  6. Transfer your Rice Krispie mixture into your lined casserole dish. Spread it so it is even. OPTIONAL. Cover your Rice Krispie treat with parchment paper and use the back of a measuring cup to press down and rub over the parchment paper to help flatten it more evenly.
  7. Let cool fully.
  8. On your cutting board, use your chefs knife to cut your giant Rice Krispie Treat into evenly sized smaller Rice Krispie Treat squares.
