MEYER LEMON BASIL AND GIN LEMONADE

SPIKED LEMONADE just leveled up.

The other night, I made a spiked lemonade. It was good but there was just something missing that could make it amazing. My husband Franklin and I toyed with it and he definitely got it to where it needed to be. LOVE IT SO MUCH! FYI. This will be my summer drink go-to. So, with it in my hand right now, I say “cheers, friends”!

Instructions

TO MIX YOUR COCKTAIL
  1. In your shaker, combine your gin, Meyer lemon juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, and chopped basil.
  2. Fill your shaker with ice that comes just above your liquid mixture.
  3. Close your shaker and shake aggressively for 20 seconds.
  4. Strain your cocktail into your extra cup. It should just be liquid now without ice or basil.
TO ASSEMBLE YOUR COCKTAIL
  1. Using your spoon, fill your Tom Collins glass 1/4 of the way up with crushed ice.
  2. Lay a slice of your Meyer lemon between the ice and the inside of the glass.
  3. Add more crushed ice and then an additional slice of Meyer lemon. Repeat this process until your crushed ice is 1/2 inch from the top of the glass and you have Meyer lemon slices lining the walls of your glass.
  4. Pour your cocktail slowly over your ice.
  5. Fill the remaining part of your glass with your seltzer.
  6. OPTIONAL. Add more crushed ice so that you create a mound that comes out of the glass.
  7. Lay your basil leaf on top of your cocktail.
