CHOCOLATE CHIP WALNUT BANANA BREAD WITH CRUMBLE

CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA BREAD but, like, next level though.

I recently made Banana Muffins With Crumble and still had additional super ripe bananas left over—felt like a huge win! The chocolate lover in me had to make this more decadent take on that recipe and, well, I made it in loaf form so that I could cut really big slices—you get me!

Instructions

TO MAKE YOUR CRUMBLE
  1. Preheat your oven to 350º.
  2. In one of your medium mixing bowls, whisk together your flour, sugar, and cinnamon.
  3. Add butter and use a fork to mix it all together until you have a crumble of pea-sized pieces.
  4. Set aside for now.
TO MAKE YOUR BANANA BREAD BATTER
  1. In your large mixing bowl, whisk together your flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In your second medium mixing bowl, use the back of your fork to mash your banana down to a smooth puree.
  3. Mix in your light brown sugar.
  4. Gently mix in your egg.
  5. Pour your banana mixture over your flour mixture and use your fork to mix together just until it’s fully incorporated, try not to overwork it.
  6. Fold in your 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and walnuts.
  7. Use your baking spray to grease your loaf pan.
  8. Pour your banana bread batter into your loaf pan.
  9. Evenly sprinkle your crumble over bread batter.
  10. Evenly distribute and gently press your 1/4 cup of chocolate chips into your crumble.
  11. Bake for 1 hour. Test to make sure that your loaf is finished by dipping a toothpick in the middle of your loaf. If any batter comes out, let it bake a little longer.
  12. Transfer to a cooling rack. Let cool to room temperature.
TO MAKE YOUR DRIZZLE
  1. In your medium mixing bowl, whisk together your confectioners sugar, vanilla, lemon juice, and milk. Whisk until you have a smooth even glaze. If it feels too thick add a little more milk. If it’s too runny, add a little bit more of the confectioners sugar.
  2. Fold the top of your Ziploc bag over your less dominant hand. Then, use your spatula to scoop your drizzle into one bottom corner of the bag. Push all of your drizzle into that corner and then twist the rest of the bag to hold the drizzle in its place. Use your scissors to cut a small piece off of the drizzle-filled corner part of the bag.
  3. Horizontally, squeeze your drizzle back and forth from left to right over your crumble to your liking. If you want it to harden quickly, refrigerate it until hardened—about 10 minutes.
  4. Slice, eat, and enjoy!
