NUTELLA BANANA BREAD

Nutella Banana Bread

BASIC BANANA BREAD + Nutella … it’s masterful.

This is an unmissable experience. From the moment you pull this loaf out of the oven, it’s wow-worthy. It’s simple. And it’s a show stopper. Honestly, it’s beauty surprised me. I was so focused on ease and flavor with this recipe that when I saw it finished, well, you can see. The best way to describe this recipe is that all you do is “toss it together”. The ingredients go in one bowl, get mixed together, poured into a loaf pan, topped with Nutella, bake, and you’re done.

I love this loaf for bringing to any occasion. It’s such a crowd pleaser. I can’t think of any nut-full moment where Nutella isn’t appropriate and will make everyone’s day better.

Instructions

TO MAKE YOUR BANANA BREAD
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°.
  2. In your mixing bowl, use the back of your fork to mash down your bananas.
  3. Mix in sugar, vanilla, and eggs. Mix until even.
  4. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix them in fully.
  5. Grease your loaf pan with your baking spray.
  6. OPTIONAL (with a warning): pour half of your batter into the loaf pan. Warm your Nutella until it is pourable, about 1 minute in the microwave. Then pour it in a line over the middle of your batter. Use a butter knife to swirl it around. Add remaining batter and repeat on the top. I did not put the swirl in the middle of my loaf for fear that it would be too rich, but if you want it extra rich, this is for sure the way! Otherwise, skip this step and continue on like it didn't exist.
  7. Pour your batter into your loaf pan.
  8. Warm your Nutella until it is pourable, about 1 minute in the microwave. Then pour it in a line over the top middle of your batter. Use a butter knife to swirl it around the top of your loaf.
  9. Bake for 1 hour or until you can stick a toothpick into the center of the loaf and only crumbs (no uncooked batter) come out on it.
  10. Let the loaf sit in the loaf pan for at least 5 minutes.
  11. Careful not to burn yourself, transfer your loaf to your cooling rack or serving plate.
  12. Let cool to room temperature before cutting. This isn’t a firm rule but your banana bread will cut better this way. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. If you are looking to make an extra rich loaf, pour half of your banana bread batter into the greased loaf pan, swirl in a layer of Nutella, add the remaining batter, and then swirl another layer of Nutella in.
  2. The loaf in the photos only has Nutella mixed into the top and it is still a deliciously rich loaf that allows you to taste both the bananas and the Nutella.
  3. Once completely cooled, store the loaf in a paper bag at room temperature for 2-3 days. This helps prevent a sticky exterior but may cause the bread to dry out sooner. For longer storage, wrap tightly or transfer to an airtight container for up to 4 days. You can also freeze it for up to 3 months.
