As you can imagine, when I eat out, I often eat with great food instagrammers—they're the only ones who don't go nuts when I'm taking photos of the food before they get to eat it, mainly because they are doing the same. Three of us recently had a lady date at the super cute niche Epistrophy Cafe. I had such a great time! From the fab company, to the entertaining and engaging staff that set a cheerfully playful vibe, to the fresh—both in flavor and approach—take on traditional dishes, it makes for such a lovely brunching experience.

When you go, my hands down, no contest favorite dish was the Poached Eggs & Creamy Polenta—it’s the quintessential savory morning dish. The creaminess of the incredibly fine farmer ground polenta combined with the perfectly poached egg that nearly explodes when you cut into it and the unique addition of a mushroom ragu, I swear the second I finished scraping the plate, I wanted to order an encore. Don't get me wrong, I demolished the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. There's something about seeing berries and bananas on pancakes that makes me think “oh, well, these are healthy” while completely redacting the cheese filled, powder sugar coated, whipped cream topped and syrup dousing components. Oh yeah, I walked home from Mott Street to the Upper East Side (with a pit-stop for beer, wings and mac & cheese, but that's entirely a different story reserved for another day).
